Saving Money: Hottest Wedding Trend for 2009

Pick up just about any wedding magazine (or trade publication for that matter) and you will see that the hottest wedding trend in 2009 is saving money. Some couples will choose to save money by relying on family and friends for some of their wedding services; others will look to wedding professionals to help them find ways to save. Regardless of which route you decide to take, there are important things to consider.
Over the next two weeks, I will be sharing thoughts and interviews from some of my favorite wedding professionals on the pros and cons of being a DIY Bride vs. being a good negotiator so that you don’t have to do everything yourself.

Here is a peek at what you will learn:

  • Creating your own centerpieces can add a beautiful, personal touch to your wedding day, but setting them up can add unnecessary stress to your wedding day. How can you combine doing things yourself with the services of a professional florist so you can save money without the added worry?
  • If you can only have a professional photographer for a couple of hours on the wedding day, when is the best time to have him?
  • If you rely on family and friends for services, what information should you give them to avoid misunderstandings and mistakes?
  • When it comes to DIY food and beverage, what food handling safety issues do you need to keep in mind?
There will be many more tips and suggestions. I hope you will join me starting Monday. As always, if you have any feedback or ideas, please post them here or email me at susan.southerland@pwg.com
